REMEMBER:
Some people think that if you are using a different type of
contraceptive, you do not need to use a condom. This is not true.
Other types of contraceptives, the pill, IUD’s, diaphragms, etc. do NOT protect
you or your partner against HIV/AIDS.
There are also those who complain
that the condom causes less “sensitivity” during the sexual relation, or that
it sometimes tears during sex, or that “it’s too small.” Really these are not
the fault of the condom, but of the person who does not use it correctly. In
addition, there are many different types of condoms, sizes, flavors, textures,
and colors.
Condoms should not be exposed to
extreme temperatures of cold or hot, which can cause to sensitive latex to rip
or tear during the sexual relation.
If the man has never used a condom,
it is recommended that he first practice using a condom in private without his
partner. Likewise, if the partner, female or male, has not used a condom, it
is best to practice with an object which resembles a penis, such as a cucumber
or pepper. In this way, one can get to know the consistency and resistance of
the latex condom, as well as it smell, size and texture. Thus, at the moment
of sexual relations, the couple will not be faced with a strange object, but a
known element in which the couple can have confidence.
REMEMBER ... that the correct use of the condom is the only
method that we have to have safe and full sexual relations and reduce the risk
of transmission of HIV/AIDS.
